    I've only been seriously dieting and going to the gym twice a day for the past 2 weeks and I'am finding that I'am growing farther apart from people in my life. I dont call them as much or just dont pick up the phone when they call. I don't even go out anymore because I like to wake up early to hit the gym and get my morning cardio in and start off my diet early (also like to have atleast 9 hrs of sleep). I really want to take these next 14 weeks as serious as possibe but I feel like I'am going to distance myself from everyone. The only good thing about all of this is, no emotional attachments to anybody which means I can concentrate on myself for once.

    How do you guys feel when you diet down for 3-4 months straight?

    Its getting over the hump which is like 4 weeks once you get use to the diet its not really that bad ---but you cant mix the shit food and the diet food ---stick with it if you can

    bro, once ppl begin to understand what you doing they more than likely respect you more...not everyone can stick to a diet & keep at it...its tough but keep it up!

    yea people find it weird when I bring the same food everyday to work and they ask me if iam trying to go on a diet and why i'am doing it. i just tell them i need to....dont feel like going into a discussion of what my plans are. I also hate it when people tell me iam getting smaller, just wanna throw my protein shake bottle at them. oooo well....on with the diet!

    Hey Bro,


    To tell you the truth I felt pretty shitty when I was dieting and pushing out 1 - 2 hrs cardio a day on top of weights. I found that I became very irratable and was always looking to start an arguement with my girl or room mates. I also did find that I became somewhat withdrawn from others and did not want to socialise etc.

    My room mates and friend were always giving me shit about the foods I was eating, the alcohol I wasnt drinking or the fact that I was spending 2 - 3 hrs training a day. It wasnt until they saw my before and after shots that they were like "Holy Shit how did you do that in 16 weeks?". They now respect what I have done and have even asked for my help to get them into shape, they still think what I eat is f*!ked though, lol.

    Hang in there bro it is tough,but just think about the end result and happy you will be when you reach your goal. If you want explain to friends, family, etc that for the next few months you will be working hard to reach a personal goal and may be a little withdrawn or reluctant to party, socialise, etc. Hopefully they will understand and if not they definatley will when you show them before and after pics.

    Double Wide gave me some good advice, this really helped me out when things were getting a little out of hand between me and my girl. After reading DW's advice I realised what I was doing, dieting was making me feel like shit, I would be in a constant bad mood and want to take it out on others, this was not fair as I was the one putting myself through this dieting phase and not them. Following DW's advice I would leave my shitty mood at the gym and walk in the door with a completley diffrent mind set, thnigs became alot better after that.

    "suck it up man and act like an adult. we;ve all dieted and not had carbs for 14 weeks and did 2 sessions of cardio per day and weights and wrorked. yes you will get grumpy and tired and ornerey. but seperate yourself from people. be by yourself and just tell the people to give you some space etc... dont take shit out on your girl or other people because you choose to put yourself threw crap. suck up to your girl and say sorry"

    Well I dont think you need to distant yourself from your friends and family. This is a selfish sport if you let it become that way. As for those of us who diet for 16 weeks straight or have done it in the past, i would say we dont let it distance us from those we love. My fiancee is a national level competitor and she doesnt distance herself from me. I do know what she's going through which makes it easier on her but she doesnt let the comp prep get between us.

    What I'm saying is you can diet down for a show and not be distant from your friends, fam, and loved ones. If there your friends they'll understand, you fam will support ya if you educate them on what your trying to do, and honestly you shouldnt be harsh, rude, or snappy to your loved one. They'll be your biggest support system b/c they'll keep your driven from there kind words, and support they'll show you in so many ways.

    it will take ppl a little while to catch on to what you are doing...they are going to ask questions & they will ask them over & over & over again...

    i dont necissaritly distance myself but i do get in a "zone" so to speak where i try not to let things bother me...i have to understand that i am doing this for me & most ppl will not understand why or what for...it is alot easier now that i have competed in 3 shows & ppl have seen the pictures from the shows...most ppl will say that they wish they could do something like that...

    i guess iam just in this zone as well....trying to do what needs to be done to achieve my goal...can't wait for these 14 wks to be over with so people can see what I was trying to do all along. thx guys for the support.
